Inktober 2017

Molly Schafer October 31, 2017

For this year's Inktober I purposefully decided against any type of theme. I often overdo it in the theme department for these type of challenges. Plus I really just wanted to have fun drawing with my favorite media.

I started by doodling and the next thing I knew I had a ballerina with a jack-o-lantern for a head. I was so enamored with this pumpkin head idea that I continued drawing pumpkin-heads for the first 3 weeks of Inktober. It was really fun to try and match the limited jack-o-lantern expressions to each species. They became like mini-cartoons. Here is a sampling...

Head to my Instagram to see the full collection.  I even made shirts of this bat pumpkin-head.

For the last week of the month, I switched over to drawing bats for International Bat Week. I  love bringing attention to these awesome creatures many of whom are threatened.

For Halloween I created one last pumpkin-head: the raven. This daily drawing project was so much fun; I will miss pumpkins.

Happy Halloween everyone!
